Welcome New LENS LAB Member, Dave Rohr

Dave Rohr dedicated his entire public safety career to Northern Virginia. He started with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, where he held various roles over 31 years. He served as a task force leader with their international search and rescue team and was the operations chief before being appointed Fire Chief in the City of Fairfax in 2010, a position he held for five years.

The Washington Metropolitan Area is renowned for its regional approach to public safety and the cooperation among all first responder agencies. This was particularly evident during the response to the attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, where Chief Rohr was part of the incident command team.

After several visits to the area, Dave and his wife fell in love with the Lowcountry and made it their part-time home 10 years ago. They are grandparents to five grandchildren who visit with their families as often as they can. Dave looks forward to giving back to his second home in South Carolina.

Our Fire Department staff is excited beyond belief, that the advisory board is adding Chief Dave Rohr to its arsenal of amazing members. Dave’s easy-going nature, professionalism and industry knowledge will compliment the greatness that is already in place on the advisory board. I consider Chief Rohr a wonderful mentor. He is known as an industry leader. On behalf of the Fire Department, I would like to express our deepest heartfelt gratitude for allowing our Fire Rescue personnel to be blessed by your generous program. We look forward to growing our partnership and are here to support you in all that you do for our community and our firefighters. Keep up the great work. -Craig K. Oliverius, Fire Chief,  City of Isle of Palms Fire Department
