LENS Foundation Invests in Isle of Palms Public Safety and Community Cycling Infrastructure

Two police bikes and three public bike repair stations donated to serve IOP first responders and residents

ISLE OF PALMS, SC — April 14, 2026

The LENS Foundation Isle of Palms is proud to announce two significant investments in the Isle of Palms community: the donation of two CODE BIKES police mountain bikes to the Isle of Palms Police Department (IOPPD), and the installation of three Dero Fixit public bike repair and air stations at key locations across the island — available free of charge to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The two Code 1 Police Bikes come complete with lights, bags, and helmets. The bikes are equipped for duty and will enhance patrol capabilities for Isle of Palms officers. The three Dero Fixit Plus bike repair stations have been installed and are now operational at the following locations:

• IOP Public Safety Building — 30 JC Long Boulevard

• IOP Recreation Center — 24 28th Avenue

• IOP Fire Station #2 — 44 41st Avenue

Each station provides cyclists with tools and an air pump for on-the-spot repairs, supporting the growing cycling community across the Lowcountry.

“Ted Kinghorn was the driving force on the three Dero bike repair stands for our cycling community. These new pieces of support are available to our Lowcountry cycling community to enjoy 24/7, 365, free of charge.” — Craig K. Oliverius, Fire Chief, City of Isle of Palms Fire Department Installation of the repair stations was managed by IOP Public Works Director Robert Asero.

The bike repair stations are open to everyone — residents, visitors, and cyclists of all kinds are welcome to use them free of charge at any of the three locations, any time of day. Join your neighbors in showing our first responders some well-deserved appreciation — and in supporting the mission of LENS Foundation IOP — at the 2026 LENS Public Safety Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Osprey Ballroom at Wild Dunes Resort.
